On April 14, the luxury passenger and vehicle ferry "MOBY FANTASY" built by China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Shipyard International for Italy's MOBY Line Shipping Company set sail from Longxue Island in Nansha, Guangzhou. The ship is the world's largest passenger and vehicle ferry built independently by China. The timing system equipped on the passenger and vehicle ferry is the Polaris ship mother-and-child clock system developed and produced by Yantai Clock and Watch Research Institute Co., Ltd. Including the "MOBY FANTASY", China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Shipyard International and Yantai Clock and Watch Research Institute Co., Ltd. signed a total of four contracts, and the four passenger and vehicle ferry selected the century-old national brand Polaris.
Ro-ro passenger ship is a ship with dual functions of traffic and transportation. The lower deck is mainly used for transporting vehicles, and the upper space provides accommodation and entertainment services for tourists. The ship has a total of 13 decks, 533 rooms, and can accommodate 2,500 passengers at full load. The ship is equipped with a 4-story garage that can carry more than 800 vehicles of various types. The ro-ro passenger ship is equipped with an extremely low power engine system and a liquefied natural gas interface. It can not only achieve a high-speed navigation of up to 25 nautical miles/hour with extremely low fuel consumption, but also use liquefied natural gas as a power fuel as needed to further reduce the emission of ship pollutants. This ship is the first ro-ro passenger ship of its kind in the world to obtain the three-stage energy-saving and environmental protection indicators of EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index).
The timing system equipped on the ro-ro passenger ship is the Polaris ship master and slave clock system developed and produced by Yantai Clock and Watch Research Institute Co., Ltd. This technology is the first of its kind in China and has reached the advanced level of similar international products. It has passed CCS type approval, and the master clock controls the slave clock to run synchronously. It uses external standard time signals such as GPS/Beidou to automatically calibrate the time, automatic AC/DC switching power supply, interface diversity and standardization, etc. The system has a high degree of automation, strong interconnection and interoperability, high timekeeping accuracy, and convenient and fast operation and maintenance. The system can withstand the influence of various harsh environments such as temperature, humidity, shock, vibration, salt spray, electromagnetic radiation, etc. at sea, ensuring 100% accurate time. The multi-layer backup system ensures the stability and safety of the system, providing protection for the navigation of the largest ro-ro passenger ship built independently in China.
