The Shenzhou-10 spacecraft was successfully launched on June 11, 2013. The Polaris precision navigation chronometer and ship master-slave clock system developed and produced by our company were used on the "Yuanwang" series of tracking and control ships that monitored Shenzhou-10. They provided unified time for the tracking and control ships, assisted the launch of Shenzhou-10, and played an important role in ensuring the completion of various aerospace scientific research tasks of Shenzhou-10.
"Yuanwang" is the name of China's aerospace ocean-going tracking and control fleet. my country previously had 6 ocean-going tracking and control ships, named Yuanwang-1 to Yuanwang-6. The various precision measurement systems equipped on the "Yuanwang" measurement ship can track and telemeter missiles, satellites, and spacecraft entering its measurement arc in the predetermined sea area, and can determine their landing points in order to recover satellites and spacecraft, which is one of the key links in manned space system engineering.
Yuanwang-1 to -4 applied the Polaris precision navigation chronometer and ship master-slave clock system. It has participated in hundreds of scientific research and test missions for my country's intercontinental missiles, submarine-launched missiles, communication satellites, meteorological satellites, navigation and positioning satellites, Shenzhou spacecraft, Austar, Asia-Pacific II, and Philippine Star.
As a special precision chronograph R&D base and a national designated military product production unit, Yantai Clock and Watch Research Institute Co., Ltd. (Polaris Technology Development Center) successfully developed a precision marine chronograph as early as the 1980s. In the 1990s, it developed a ship mother-and-child clock to replace imports. In recent years, it has developed a ship mother-and-child clock with multiple time zones to meet the requirements of various ships for time systems. It has become a precision marine chronograph and ship mother-and-child clock system R&D base. At present, the Polaris precision marine chronograph and ship mother-and-child clock system are the domestic timing systems adopted by the Yuanwang fleet. The Polaris precision marine chronograph and ship mother-and-child clock system provide time benchmarks for other various shipborne precision measurement systems with their high timing accuracy (no cumulative error), high degree of automation, and easy operation and use, etc., and record the difficult and glorious journey of Yuanwang for my country's cutting-edge scientific research such as aerospace.
Four Yuanwang survey ships were deployed in the Pacific, Atlantic and Indian Oceans to perform measurement and control missions for the Shenzhou VI to Shenzhou IX spacecraft. As the time service system of the measurement and control ship, the Polaris ship timing system has participated in and witnessed the course of China's aerospace and other cutting-edge scientific research missions many times. In the Shenzhou 10 manned space mission, Polaris went out again with the Yuanwang and was stationed in various oceans according to the established plan, writing a new chapter for my country's cutting-edge aerospace scientific research missions.
